This Wired article is a bit of a long read but if you want a glimpse into the future of what human-computer interfaces will look like then it’s well worth your time.

Magic Leap is a new company that’s raised hundreds of millions of dollars to innovate a new kind of visualization technology they call Mixed Reality or MR.

While Virtual Reality (VR) surrounds the user in computer-generated imagery (think Oculus Rift) and Augmented Reality (AR) layers computer-generated imagery on top of real-world images (think Google Glass), MR is about integrating computer-generated imagery into your real-world vision so seamlessly that the digital images look as real as the reality around you.

But the simplest way to put it is that if Magic Leap can deliver on what it’s promising, then it could mean the end of physical screens as we know it and the beginning of interfacing with computers in ways that we normally only see in science fiction movies.
